Kyusho Waza
Pressure Point Techniques
Kyusho Waza or Pressure point techniques are taught to Dan grades and some 1st Kyu students with the permission of the instructor as these techniques can be very dangerous if performed incorrectly.
Only a few techniques are taught and force is not applied fully, since rendering one unconscious to demonstrate a technique is not what our club is about. We apply pressure slowly to area so you can feel the effects, but not suffer from them.
During practice, all measures can be put in place to protect each student. However, in kumite there can be a possibility that you might accidentally knock your opponent out or when learning choking techniques, pressure may be applied for too long rendering your partner unconscious.
Kappo
Kappo (Resuscitation techniques) where developed as part of Jujutsu back in the eighteenth century and are methods to help quickly restore your partner back to consciousness.
Kappo consists of four main methods
Sasoi-Katsu (The Inductive method)
Eri-Katsu (The Lapel method)
So-Katsu (The Composite method)
Kogan-Katsu (The Testicle method)
